Hydrating and Healing Green Smoothie

When you stop drinking, your body needs to heal. Because it's working overtime to cleanse itself of all of the alcohol toxins, any opportunity you get to hydrate and feed yourself nourishing and nutritional foods needs to be taken.

When we're drinking, we dehydrate our bodies and lose lots of vital electrolytes like potassium, magnesium, sodium, and calcium. If we've been drinking heavily for prolonged periods of time, our bodies can take a while to get back to normal hydration levels.

Coconut water is an excellent natural hydrator with no added chemicals or sweeteners. It does a fantastic job of replenishing all of those depleted electrolytes.

This smoothie offers a variety of green goodness, protein and healthy fats with its kale, spinach and avocado but, on top of that, the coconut water and cucumber offer superb hydration. Pineapple provides a sweet fruitiness to balance the vegetables, makes it palatable and, if you get the ratios right, sweetly delicious.

One of these a day in place of a chocolate bar, cake or ice-cream will make a massive difference to your health and vitality!

Ingredients

half an avocado, peeled, stoned and roughly chopped

handful of spinach

handful of washed kale

50g pineapple chunks

10cm piece of cucumber, washed and roughly chopped

300ml coconut water

Method

Place all ingredients, including the coconut water, into a blender and blitz until smooth.
